CANDIDATE of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta Central senatorial district, Chief Ighoyota Amori, has been declared winner of Saturday’s re-run election in the district.
Announcing the election result, the Presiding Officer of the senatorial district, Prof. Prekeyi Tawari-Fideyin, said Amori polled a total of 116, 723 votes.
She said that the Labour Party, LP, candidate, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege and that of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Halims Agoda, polled 76,635 and 16,489 votes respectively.
Reacting to his victory at the poll, Amori expressed appreciation to God, the state governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the state governor-elect, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and the leadership of the party for their support.
On his part, Labour Party candidate, Omo-Agege alleged that the exercise was replete with irregularities and vowed to challenge the outcome in court.
He advised his supporters to remain calm, assuring them that he will surely claim the mandate.
