The Convener, Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reforms, Mr. Ayo Opadokun, and the Chairman, Galaxy Clique, Offa, Mr. Muideen Ibrahim, have said it is shameful that Nigeria, which is one of the largest global producers of crude oil, still imports petrol for domestic consumption.
They also said the Offa people were at a disadvantaged position on the basis of their inclusion in Kwara State, which is one of the 19 northern states, when according to them, they share cultural norms and history with the Yoruba.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has begun investigations into allegations of misappropriation of funds and abuse of office levelled against the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof. Usman Yusuf.
The EFCC stated this in a letter dated December 21, 2017, which was addressed to the current acting Executive Secretary of the NHIS.
The investigations by the commission started five months after Yusuf was suspended by the Federal Ministry of Health.

Barely one month after one of the global rating agencies, Moody’s Investors Service, downgraded Nigeria’s sovereign debt rating, the agency has said the country’s balance sheet remains exposed to further shocks.
Moody’s had on November 8 downgraded Nigeria’s long-term issuer and senior unsecured debt rating to ‘B2’ from ‘B1’. The Federal Government, however, rejected the rating.
As a follow-up to the earlier rating, Moody’s on Monday released its annual credit analysis report, stating that Nigeria’s ‘B2 stable’ credit profile was constrained by the continued exposure of the sovereign balance sheet to shocks, weak institutions and elevated deficits.

Belgore’s N500m Fraud Charge: Join Me As Defendant, Diezani Tells Court

A former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke on Monday asked a Federal High Court in Lagos to issue an order, listing her as a party to a N500m fraud charge involving a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dele Belgore.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had charged Belgore together with a former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar Suleiman, on a five-count bordering on N500m fraud.
The EFCC had named the former petroleum minister as an accomplice in the criminal trial.
She was, however, described as being “at large”.

One person was presumed dead while three others were injured, yesterday, on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, during an autocrash involving a Toyota RAV 4 and an unidentified truck.
 The incident reportedly occurred at about 8.25am, at Ogere, Ogun State axis, near the proposed Mile 12 market, when the Toyota RAV 4 with number plate AGL 743 EM, with four occupants (two males and two females), stopped to catch a glimpse of an accidented vehicle being towed by officials of
