Good Girls Gone Bad

Good girls gone bad is the third studio album of Rihanna and it aptly captures the focus of this piece. Once upon a time, the Nigerian entertainment scene had an array of good girls who wouldn’t hurt a fly, divas who tread on the path of caution and do whatever it takes to be in the good books of the media.

The governor said the polling units where the act was alleged to have been carried out included those in Ikole Local Government Area and Ilejemeje Local Government Area.

The House of Assembly election held in the 18 local government areas of Ondo state yesterday witnessed violence and apathy as some hired political thugs invaded polling booths and disrupted the accreditations process.
The general low turn of voters in the state was however, attributed to the fear of being attacked by the hoodlums who were alleged to had been sent to all the council areas by a particular political party’s chieftain to disrupt elections and intimidate people from voting for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress who had upper hands in the last Presidential and National Assembly elections held last two weeks

TWO persons were reportedly shot dead in the early hours of Saturday by unknown gunmen in the state. The victims include a middle aged man, Mr. Mike Ojor in Ikwo Nnoyo in Ikwo local government area and the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ishielu LGA of the state, Mr. Emeka Nworie.

                   Alhaja Safurat Layode Abdukareem, running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje, Saturday lost at her polling unit to the APC. She polled 72 votes against APC’s 140.
                  Shortly after casting her vote, she had pleaded that candidates of the leading political parties and their supporters should accept the outcome of the gubernatorial election in the state in good fate.

A 50-year-old woman, Yar’Baba Yusuf Babangida,was confirmed dead after she reportedly slumped while on a queue for vote in Katsina.

The deceased was said to be on queue at Kofar gidan Hamisu polling unit of Makera ward in Funtua local government area of Katsina State when she suddenly slumped.

Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State has appealed to residents of the state to accept the outcome of the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections whichever way it turns.

The Plateau State Police Command on Saturday confirmed the killing of a 23-year-old man during the governorship and house of assembly elections in Jos, identified simply as Salim. “One Salim was shot dead by unknown security operatives during the elections.
“We are not sure of further details but we shall try to find out the circumstances and get back to you,” Mr Emmanuel Abu, Spokesman of the command, told the pressmen.

Lagos state House of Assembly hopeful and All Progressives Congress chieftain, Desmond Olusola Elliot, was allegedly caught sharing money to woo voters in Lagos state, according to an image by a citizen reporter.
In the said image, the Nollywood star who wore a native attire with his initial DOE boldly written on his cap, was surrounded by policemen and others. It is not certain if the money was for the policemen or the voters.
However, he has denied the allegation, arguing that he did not need to bribe anyone. He didn’t give further information on why he shared the money.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday said that Nigeria’s democratic process was fast maturing. Obasanjo made the assertion shortly after his accreditation at Ward 11, Unit 22 at Olusomi Compound, Sokori area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area.
He said that although there was a drop in the turnout of voters compared with the presidential and National Assembly polls, the accreditation exercise could still be described as successful.

MINISTER of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of intimidating supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the April 11 governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
He said this when he cast his vote along Alexander road in Ikoyi, Senator Obanikoro lamented that the low turnout of voters could be attributed to the alleged intimidation of PDP members.

The police in Enugu State have arrested seven suspects accused of raping a Reverend Sister, in addition to the kidnap of over 10 Rev. Fathers, pastors, politicians and passengers.
The suspects were arrested at Ugwuaji forest, Enugu State by men of the state police anti-kidnapping squad after abducting several victims along Enugu/Port Harcourt road.

A 26-year-old suspect from Kebbi State, Usman Shehu Mohammed has confessed to the police, how he conspired with one Mohammed who is currently at large to slaughter their employer, an Indian national over an unpaid salary.
The suspects were security men at Trans African Farms and Food Ltd, Eleko, Ajah area of Lagos State, a company owned by an Indian. They broke into the office of Srivastava Shailesh Kumar, the operation manager of the company at about 3.30am with the intent to collect their unpaid salary through robbery. On realising that the man would not yield easily, they sliced his throat, stabbed him severally before carting away valuables.

Millions of Nigerians will be trooping out today to various polling centres across the country to cast their votes in the gubernatorial and states House of Assembly elections. Expectedly, Nigerians and members of the international community are hopeful that the exercise will be peaceful like the Presidential and National Assembly polls held two weeks ago.
However, analysts and stakeholders have implored Security agencies,and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to leave anything to chance following the possibility of outbreak of violence in some states that have been dubbed flashpoint states. During the polls two weeks ago, tension was not only high in these states,there was outbreak of violence in some of them. These states are Rivers, Edo, Anambra, Ekiti, Kaduna and Imo.

I am certain you have not shaken off the fatigue brought to bear on you by the strenuousness of campaigns. Traversing every nook and cranny of our great country is no mean task. And for you, this is the fourth time you have done it. The first was in 2003, the second 2007, the third 2011 and the fourth 2015. Co-ordinator, Ijaw Monitoring Groupå (IMG), Comrade Joseph Evah, has attributed President Goodluck Jonathan’s loss in the presidential election to the betrayal by some people he trusted. While declaring that people of the Niger Delta were disappointed that the president can’t serve a second term, he said the people have, however, accepted their fate.

Tambuwal Calls For Peaceful Elections

The Speaker, House of Representative and the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has urged Nigerians to vote peacefully tomorrow by shunning violence.
While urging voters to go out en masse to cast their votes tomorrow, Tambuwal said all supporters of the parties should conduct themselves peacefully and resist any act of deliberate provocations during and after the election.

Dad shots girlfriend to death while holding 3 months old baby [Photo]

Dimitri Harrell, 21, is in police custody after confessing to fatally shooting his girlfriend, Samirria White, 19.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, White was killed following an argument she had with Harrell Easter morning in a bedroom where their 3-month-old daughter was sleeping. The teen’s body was discovered on the floor of the couple’s Minneapolis apartment.

This is not good! A Nigerian Air Force helicopter on a training mission in Lagos crashed at about 10am today.

According to a statement by Nigerian Air Force spokesperson, Dele Alonge, the helicopter, which suffered severe damage, was returning to the Apron after the completion of the training exercise when it crashed due to hydraulic failure while on taxi to the hanger.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – A 27-year-old woman was pulled over early morning due to a speeding violation. Natasha Brown, acted in a very suspicious manner officers decided to search her vehicle where they discovered $60,000 in cash. When officers asked her why she had such a large amount of money she replied “I’m getting an abortion” she was taken into custody for further questioning.
She told Baton Rouge investigators that the money was rightfully hers.

3 Killed In Xenphobic Violence In South Africa

At least three people described as foreign nationals have been killed in a wave of xenophobic violence in the South African city of Durban, local media reported on Friday.
Residents looted shops owned by foreigners on Thursday, with one Somali shopkeeper now fighting for his life.
Hundreds of people from Malawi, Burundi, Zimbabwe and Congo have reportedly fled their homes in the past two weeks.

The Presidency has urged the All Progressives Congress to leave President Goodluck Jonathan alone and not belittle his achievements by its allegation that the President was in Lagos to help rig the governorship elections for the Peoples Democratic Party.
Speaking with state House correspondents, Presidential spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati said the allegation by Lai Mohammed was a “lie and rude”.

Meanwhile,Gabriel Okoye, popularly known as Gabosky, has fired back at those who are condemning Kunle Afolayan, insisting that about 99 percent of pirates in Nigeria are from the Igbos extraction. Addressing the press on Thursday, Gabosky who is the President of G-Media Limited, a distribution outlet, said he has lost over N450 million to pirates in recent times.

The face-off between members of the 19 All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State House of Assembly and the state governor, Mr Ayo Fayose yesterday took a new dimension as the lawmakers have formally written the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, to set up a seven man panel that would investigate the allegation of gross misconduct raised against Fayose and his deputy, Dr Olubunmi Eleka in the impeachment notice.

INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has appealed to politicians to refrain from acts capable of truncating the electoral process by encouraging peaceful conduct of elections on April 11.
Jega, who made the appeal on Thursday in Makurdi during a meeting of stakeholders convened by INEC, said the scale of violence that was recorded in Benue during the Presidential and National Assembly polls was regrettable.
