The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday handed over 116 cars and 20 properties in Edo, Rivers and Lagos States recovered from one Michael Obasuyi Osasogie to First Bank Plc.
Trouble began for Osasogie after a petition he wrote to the commission against E-tranzact in March 2018.
The EFCC had, however, investigated Osasogie’s business interests, following receipt of a counter-petition written by e-tranzact against Osasogie and one of his companies, SmartMicro.

Strengthening mechanism for increased internal revenue generation is critical to the expected increased revenue in the non-oil sector, Yue Man Lee, World Bank Senior Economist, has said.
Lee said this on Tuesday in a paper she presented at the ongoing 3-day National Council on Finance and Economic Development conference, holding in Kaduna.
The paper was entitled “Strengthening States Revenue Performance through Transparency and Open Government.’’

Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, says over N600 billion has been allocated to the education sector in 2018.
Osinbajo disclosed this at the opening ceremony of a two-day Stakeholders’ Workshop on Sustainable Funding for Education in Nigeria held on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall, Abuja.

According to a statement released by the agency, the raid followed intelligence report received by the Commission on the activities of the operators of the auto shop, who are said to be a syndicate of organized Internet fraudsters.

Three Modular Refineries To Begin Operations In 2019 — Kachikwu

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has said there are strong indications that three out of the 40 planned modular refineries would come on stream by end of 2019.

Kachikwu disclosed this at the three-day Biennial International Conference for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) organised by Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Lagos on Monday.

“Out of the 40 licenses issued, only 10 have shown progress by submitting their programmes and putting something on the ground.

Salaries, Wages Growing At Lowest Level Since 2008 — ILO

Salaries are still far too low in the developing world with take-home pay growth overall at its lowest since 2008, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) has said.
The UN labour agency in its Global Wage Report 2018/19 released on Monday, also said that pay rose by just 0.4 per cent during last year in advanced economies.
The report, however, said wages grew higher and faster in developing countries in 2017 than in richer nations, at over four per cent.

The Federal Government and striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) officials on Monday failed to reach an agreement after another round of meeting.
Another round of meeting to bring to an end the industrial action embarked upon by ASUU on November 4th, was called by Minister of Education, Adamu Adam.

The world sports ruling body said his departure was amid an ongoing legal case in Switzerland.
The IOC said it had taken note of Sheikh Ahmad’s decision to “temporarily suspend himself from his role and responsibilities within ….ANOC.”

 The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has called on Federal Controllers of Works in the country to be proactive and committed to effective monitoring of projects.
