Pres. Buhari Fires NIMASA DG, Akpobolokemi

                President Buhari has sacked Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi as Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
In a statement by the special adviser to the President on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, the termination of Akpobolokemi’s appointment takes immediate effect.

Breaking News: Explosions in Damaturu at prayer ground

                   Ahead of today’s Sallah celebration, two explosions have been reported early Friday morning in Damaturu, Yobe State.
The explosions at Phase 1 Eid praying ground was said to have been triggered off by a female suicide bomber.
An eyewitness told our reporter he counted five dead bodies at the scene.

Lekki Robbery Suspect Sues Police N1million For Damages From Jail

              One of the four suspects paraded by the police in connection with the March 12, 2015 robbery of the Lekki branch of First City Monument Bank, Ebi Tosan, has sued the police, seeking damages in the sum of N1m.
The twenty-year-old, who was arrested on April 5, 2015, claimed that it was unlawful for the police to continue to keep him in detention without admitting him to bail.

Presidency Responds To Radio Biafra - Read Full Statement

           Claims that President Buhari made anti-Igbo comments during an interview on the BBC Hausa Service are lies, according to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Garba Shehu.

625 Killed As Boko Haram Gunmen Slit Some Residents Throats In Borno

             Gunmen strongly suspected to be Boko Haram killed  dozens of people in four villages in Borno, slitting some residents’ throats and opening fire on others, one resident and the police said on Tuesday.

Breaking news: Suicide Attack At Military Checkpoint In Maiduguri

                    A suicide bomber on Monday attacked a military checkpoint on the outskirts of Maiduguri causing casualties, civilian vigilantes helping troops in the fight against Boko Haram told newsmen.
The blast happened at the Jimtilo checkpoint on Maiduguri’s southern fringe at about 12:10 pm.

             Akumazi community, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State was thrown into confusion when a 46-year-old woman, Chiekube Igbinosa, bit off her daughter’s ear during a brawl over a man.
Investigation revealed that unknown to the mother, she and her daughter, Mabel, were both having an affair with the same man. The mother reportedly started an affair with the man while her daughter, was away in Rivers State, observing her one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps scheme.

Gas Explosion Kills Seven In Jigawa

 


             No fewer than seven persons were killed in Jigawa when a welding gas cylinder exploded in Ruba village of Kafin Hausa Local Government areas in Jigawa state.
Malam Muhammad Gudado, the state Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Dutse that the incident occurred around 12:23 pm on Sunday, when the cylinder exploded in the market on a market day.

Boko Haram Attacks Niger Prison, Four Killed



               Suspected Boko Haram militants launched an attack on the prison in the southern Niger town of Diffa late on Saturday, military sources said, in an apparent bid to free fellow members of the sect held there.
Three of the assailants and one soldier were killed before the attack was repelled, the sources said.

Former militant commanders and ex-members of the Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to increase the pace of his government.
The former creek warlords rose from their meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, over the weekend and declared that Buhari should speed up and formulate policies to tackle rising security and economic challenges in the country.
