Just In-- Boko Haram Leader ''Abubakar Shekau'' is Alive

Last month it was reported that Nigeria soldiers killed Boko Haram terrorist group leader Abubakar Shekau during a gun battle. From a new video obtained by AFP on Thursday, it shows that Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau is still alive.
The new 36-minute video showed Shekau, in combat fatigues and black rubber boots, standing on the back of a pick-up truck and firing an anti-aircraft gun into the air. Standing in front of three camouflaged vans and flanked by four heavily armed, masked fighters, he then speaks for 16 minutes in Arabic and the Hausa language.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two dogs for attacking three siblings and the owner of the dogs for granting them uncontrolled freedom.

One of the victims was said to have been injured on the skull by the dogs, according to report from the Punch.

               The Federal Government on Wednesday celebrated the nation’s 54th independence anniversary in a low-key at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
                    There was a Presidential change of guard to mark the occasion.
               The ceremony, which lasted for about two hours, was held at the fore-court of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to replace the normal full military parade and entertainments of the past ceremony normally held at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

2014 Independence Day Broadcast By President Jonathan

Here’s the President’s speech as Nigeria celebrates her 54th Independence Day today.

A Federal High Court in Lagos, yesterday, sentenced three alleged Boko Haram members to 25 years imprisonment each, for acts of terrorism. The convicts were among 17 accused, who were earlier charged before the court on November 27, 2013.

The Lagos State Government had arraigned the accused on an eight-count charge of acts of terrorism and possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition.
