US Won’t Change Visa Policy For Nigeria –Ambassador

TheUnited States has said that the recent executive order on immigration by President Donald Trump will not affect Nigerians, noting that visa applicants will continue to get two-year multiple entry visas as before.
It assured apprehensive Nigerians that the order on “Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States” would not also affect the validity of visas held by Nigerians, noting that its visa policy to Nigeria had not changed.

Clear yourself, APC tells Okowa Over Alleged $10m diversion

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, to come out and clear the air on the allegation making the rounds that “one of the South-South governors” diverted $10m received as bailout from the Federal Government.
According to the Delta APC, in a statement on Monday by its acting Publicity Secretary, Leonard Obibi, the allegation had gone viral having been reported by some newspapers.
The story, according to the APC, stated that $10m was allegedly hijacked from the South-South in question by the governor’s American-based mistress.

Obama, Has criticised President Donald Trump’s Over Travel Ban

A former US President, Barack Obama, has criticised President Donald Trump’s executive order to  curb immigration, backing protesters who have taken to the nation’s airports to express their displeasure.
Obama, in a statement on Monday by his spokesperson, Kevin Lewis, said Trump’s immigration policy was discriminatory.
“The (former) President fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion,” CNN quoted Lewis as saying.
Lewis added that Obama perceived the protests as “exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake.”

Lagos State Customs Officers As Seize 661 Riffles

The Federal Operations Unit, Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service, has intercepted a container loaded with 49 boxes of 661 pump-action rifles along the Mile 2 Apapa Road of Lagos State.
The 40-foot container, which was cleared at the Lagos port, was intercepted by Customs officials who were on patrol.
The officials were said to have discovered that although the manifest said the container had “steel doors and other merchandise goods,” boxes of the weapons were concealed deep in the container.

Acting President Meets Dogara, Senate Leader Behind Closed Doors

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday, met behind closed doors with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and the Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan.
A governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress also joined the meeting with the acting President.
The meeting with Dogara and the governor, which lasted for about 30 minutes, was held inside Osinbajo’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
At the end of the meeting, Dogara did not speak with journalists.

Taraba Sacks 8 Directors Over Misconduct

Taraba Government on Monday said it had sacked eight directors over allegation bordering on misconduct, even as workers give strike notice.
Addressing newsmen on Monday in Jalingo, Alhaji Bello Yero and Mr Yakubu Agbaizo, Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Executive Secretary, State Primary Education Board, respectively, said the development had caused delay in payment of salaries.
They told Journalists that the sacked officials were being responsible for the delay in the payment of salaries of some local government workers, teachers and pensioners in the state.
