NANS Warn SA Over Xenophobic Attacks!!! Stop It In 7 Days Or South Africans In Nigeria Will Face Worst

                   The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has given the South African Government a seven day ultimatum to stop the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans resident in that country,or face reprisal attacks in Nigeria.
                                Their stance was made known in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Saturday.The statement, signed by Nwankwo Ezekiel, NAN’s Public Relations Officer, reads;

APC, Others Boycott Rescheduled House Of Assembly Election In Bayelsa

           

        The All Progressives Congress (APC) and 11 other political parties in Bayelsa State have boycotted the rescheduled election into the eight House of Assembly constituencies.
The parties had earlier made known their decision not to take part in the rescheduled election.
The election was rescheduled as a result of insufficient ballot papers on April 11.
A member of the APC, Mr Tokpo Coronation, who requested that he should not be mentioned told Channels Television that the APC and other political parties in the state choose to boycott the elections because they believed the Independent National Electoral Commission and members of the security agencies in the state were working in partnership with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Effurun Landlords Drag Delta Govt To Court

 


                   TWO landlords in Effurun, Uvwie council area of Delta State, Johnson Umode and Paul Idoghor, have, in separate suits, dragged the Delta State Government to court for alleged compulsory acquisition of their property without payment and compensation.
Also to appear before the court in the matter to redress the alleged infringement on fundamental rights of property owners is the state Ministry of Lands, Survey which is responsible for acquiring the said land situated at Refinery Junction, Effurun, for purposes of public infrastructure upgrade.

                   President-elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari  (rtd), has said he is in full support of the steps taken by the Jonathan government to protect Nigerians from the wave of xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Boko Haram Beheads Cameroonians, Death Toll Rises To 19

 

             Nineteen people were killed in Thursday night’s attack on a Cameroonian village by Nigeria-based Boko Haram militants, a security source said in an updated toll, adding that most of the victims were beheaded.
“The final toll from this attack is 19 dead, with a majority of the victims decapitated,” a security source said Saturday on condition of anonymity.

20 Die From Cholera Outbreak In Ebonyi State

                  20 people have been confirmed dead from a Cholera outbreak in Ebonyi State. The state Director, Public Health and Disease Control, in the Ministry of Health, Dr Chris Achi, who made this known to newsmen in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, said seven local government areas namely Ohaukwu, Izzi, Ezza North, Ishielu, Ebonyi, Abakaliki and Ohaozara have recorded the highest number of cases.
Dr Ashi said one student of the Ebonyi State University has died from the epidemic while 9 of them are in the hospital after contracting the disease.

Grinding Machine Kills 2-Yr Old Girl In Bauchi

                       A 12-year-old girl sent to grind groundnut by her mother, Aisha Buba, on Wednesday, met her untimely death when she was hooked and killed by a grinding machine in Bauchi State.   
                              Nigerian Tribune gathered that the machine’s fan belt hooked the deceased’s cloth and dragged her to the ground, injuring her in the process.Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in charge of the Bauchi State police command, Haruna Mohammed, said.

UN Raises Concern Over South African Xenophobic Attacks



                  The United Nations on Friday expressed concern at the latest round of xenophobic attacks in South Africa, saying the violence had displaced 5,000 people.
At least six people have been killed with the unrest spreading from the eastern port city of Durban to the country’s financial hub Johannesburg.

                     Police are investigating the shooting death of 25 year old Marteese Williams, (right) who was shot dead by 34 year old Jessica Lewis, (handcuffed), a woman he met on Craigslist who accused him of damaging her cervix during sex.
                     Florida police say the two connected on Craiglist and agreed to meet for casual sex but something went horribly wrong. According to reports, Jessica told police that after the sex, she felt extreme pain in her cervical area and went to the hospital where she was told that her cervix had been damaged.

Asan Nyama, QFM Radio station Managing Director, said the move to black out South African music indefinitely starting at 06:00 hours on Friday.

              Unknown gunmen on Thursday night killed Austin Icheghe the Ughelli branch Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Delta State.
His niece, Egunor Uviesa, said the NBA chairman was shot in front of his house at No 14 Ekredjebor Street, Ughelli, while alighting from his vehicle at 9 p.m.

Union Demands LASU Re-Opening

 


                    The Lagos State University (LASU) Branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, on Friday called on the governing council of the university to re-open the institution.
The university was closed on March 23 because of the general elections.
The Chairman of the branch, Dr Adekunle Idris, made the appeal at a news conference in Lagos.
He described the closure of the institution as illegal and unnecessary.

Presidential passage or movement, is a situation where the airspace is shut to commercial and other aircraft when presidents, vice presidents and their families are flying in or out of an airport. Government officials often cite security reasons as the underlining rationale behind the action.

Strange Disease Ravages Ondo Community; 28 Dead

                 The Ondo State Government is working hard to control a strange disease which suddenly broke out in the Ode-Irele community of Ondo state, leading to the death of no fewer than 28 people in the past three days.
Residents say the disease broke out three days ago and spread rapidly around the community, killing its victim within 24 hours.

Police Rescue 4-Year-Old Boy From Kidnappers In Kano

Zuma Appeals For End Of Xenophobic Attacks

 


                       South African President Jacob Zuma on Thursday appealed for the end of attacks on immigrants as a wave of violence that has left at least six people dead threatened to spread across the country. “No amount of frustration or anger can ever justify the attacks on foreign nationals and the looting of their shops,” Zuma told parliament. “We appeal for calm and an end to the violence.”
In the past two weeks, shops and homes owned by Somalis, Ethiopians, Malawians and other immigrants in Durban and surrounding townships have been targeted, forcing families to flee to camps protected by armed guards. Foreign-owned shops in the Jeppestown area of Johannesburg were attacked overnight, while police used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse anti-immigrant protesters in the Actonville area on Thursday.

                   Italian police said Thursday they had arrested a group of African migrants after witnesses said they threw 12 passengers overboard following a row about religion on a boat headed to Europe.
The deadly dispute, which saw a group of Muslim passengers allegedly attack a group of Christian passengers, coincided with reports of a new migrant drowning tragedy.

Army Acquits 57 Soldiers Sentenced To Death In December

                      Oh yah! We prayed for this! There's news that a special court martial of the Nigerian Army has discharged and acquitted 57 soldiers who were charged with losing their weapons and going on an Absence Without Official Leave, AWOL while battling insurgents last year.
In December last year, the soldiers were charged with conspiracy to commit mutiny after their revolt led to the death of some of their colleagues in a duel with insurgents. They claimed that their
weapons were inferior to the enemy’s at the time.
