APC, Others Boycott Rescheduled House Of Assembly Election In Bayelsa
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and 11 other political parties in Bayelsa State have boycotted the rescheduled election into the eight House of Assembly constituencies.
The parties had earlier made known their decision not to take part in the rescheduled election.
The election was rescheduled as a result of insufficient ballot papers on April 11.
A member of the APC, Mr Tokpo Coronation, who requested that he should not be mentioned told Channels Television that the APC and other political parties in the state choose to boycott the elections because they believed the Independent National Electoral Commission and members of the security agencies in the state were working in partnership with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Effurun Landlords Drag Delta Govt To Court
TWO landlords in Effurun, Uvwie council area of Delta State, Johnson Umode and Paul Idoghor, have, in separate suits, dragged the Delta State Government to court for alleged compulsory acquisition of their property without payment and compensation.
Also to appear before the court in the matter to redress the alleged infringement on fundamental rights of property owners is the state Ministry of Lands, Survey which is responsible for acquiring the said land situated at Refinery Junction, Effurun, for purposes of public infrastructure upgrade.

A 12-year-old girl sent to grind groundnut by her mother, Aisha Buba, on

Union Demands LASU Re-Opening
The Lagos State University (LASU) Branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, on Friday called on the governing council of the university to re-open the institution.

Zuma Appeals For End Of Xenophobic Attacks
South African President Jacob Zuma on Thursday appealed for the end of attacks on immigrants as a wave of violence that has left at least six people dead threatened to spread across the country. “No amount of frustration or anger can ever justify the attacks on foreign nationals and the looting of their shops,” Zuma told parliament. “We appeal for calm and an end to the violence.”
