With the Super Eagles going through a rough patch at the moment, former coach of the team and current Nigeria U-23 coach, Samson Siasia says the current signs show that the former African champions will rise up again.
Siasia, who handled the Super Eagles between 2010 and 2011, says that, with the current crop of players coming through at both the U-20 and his U-23 teams, the signs are good for Nigerian football and predicts that players from both teams will dominate the Super Eagles in the “nearest future”.
“What we have now is good,” he began. “Good for the individual teams (U-20 and U-23) and also good for the country.
“The quality of players coming through now is encouraging and I think it will show in the Super Eagles soon.
“A lot of these boys will make up the Super Eagles team in the nearest future and that is a good thing because it will make our team stronger.
“We just have to be a little patient and give the boys some time and I believe they will get to that level,” he said.
There seems to be a lack of real quality in the present Super Eagles side, which has been attributed to the team’s recent struggles.
But with the quality of players coming through from both age-grade teams, especially the Flying Eagles, it gives some hope of a better future.
