Oil Marketers Pledge To End Queues Nationwide

 Oil Marketers threaten to embark on another strike


                        Oil marketers on Friday said they have dispatched 700 trucks of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), to Abuja as part of efforts to end fuel queues at filling stations nationwide.
This is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting they held in Abuja with the Federal Government and other stakeholders in oil and gas sector.

                           Barely a week after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, threatened to declare him wanted over alleged laundering of over N300 billion during his tenure, the former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, last night voluntarily surrendered to the agency for interrogation.
The former governor walked into the hands of his interrogators at the commission’s head office in Abuja at 6pm and was immediately taken in.

                  No fewer than 14 people were injured, while property worth millions of naira were destroyed, yesterday, in Lagos as a tanker laden with 33,000 litres of petrol fell off Iyana-Ipaja bridge, resulting in an explosion which triggered a fire that raged for about 10 hours.
Affected property include a popular recording company, Remi Odus; electrical cables, three buildings, 44 shops, six tricycles and 22 vehicles, among others.

CBN Releases 2013 Controversial Report

                            The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) weekend released the 2013 annual report that led to suspension of former governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria had raised issues with the accounts, saying it needed some detailed explanation as required in the International Financial Reporting Standards.
It was on the basis of issues raised by the Council that the former CBN Governor was suspended. However, the CBN said that it has formally released its audited financial statements for 2013 and 2014 and has fully adopted the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for the financial statements.

CBN’s Operating Surplus Falls By N174BN

                    The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, operating surplus (net income) fell sharply by N174 billion to N33.8 billion in 2014.
This represented 81 percent decline when compared with the N213.5 billion recorded in 2013. In the same vein, the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company Plc, a subsidiary of the apex bank suffered a loss of N1.54 billion in 2014.
