Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter, has embarked on a three-day sympathy strike to protest against the abduction of Justice Samuel Obayomi of the State High Court.
JUSUN, in a communiqué, signed by its Chairman, Daniel Adinoyi at the end of its emergency meeting, condemned the spate of kidnapping in the state.
The union said it was worried over the spate of attacks on judges, recalling that Justice Moses Gwatana of High Court, Ihima, was shot by unknown gunmen in 2013.
“The union condemns in totality the abduction of Justice Samuel Obayomi of the High Court of Justice by unknown gunmen on May 25, 2015.
“In view of the above, the union resolves to embark on three days sympathy strike with effect from June 3(Wednesday|) to June 6, 2015,” the union said.
It also called on the Kogi State Government and security agencies to expedite action to secure the release of Obayomi.

JUSUN also suggested that adequate security measures should be provided for all judiciary officials in the state.
Obayomi was abducted on May 25, on his way to the office by a gang of three armed men, who took away his Toyota Yaris car and killed his orderly, Cpl. Usman Musa.
Family sources revealed that Obayomi’s abductors had demandedN150m as ransom for his release.
Also, the state Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr Stephen Mayaki, and six others, were abducted on Sunday in Osara, Adavi Local Government Area of the state.
