A top official of the Nigeria Football Federation has dispelled the rumoured arrest of the chairman, NFF Electoral Committee, Samson Ebomhe.
Ebomhe was reportedly arrested by men of the State Security Service before the start of Tuesday’s elective congress in Warri, Delta State.
The election that was billed to start by 10.00am didn’t commence as scheduled, a development that forced stakeholders at the venue of the elective congress to inquire about the whereabouts of Ebomhe.
News later started circulating that he had been arrested by the SSS.
But a top NFF official told The Nation that Ebomhe was never arrested and that he came to the congress venue with the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Gbenga Elegbeleiye and the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Godfrey Gaiya.
The electoral committee chief boarded the same vehicle with Elegbeleiye and Gaiya and later arrived the congress venue at about at about 12.40pm.
The election later commenced at 12:55pm with Ebomhe and other members of his committee supervising the exercise.
