7 Die, 18 Injured In Bauchi Auto Crash



               No fewer than seven persons were killed yesterday, while 18 others sustained injuries in a motor accident along Misau Road, about five kilometres from Azare town of Katagum Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
Confirming the incident, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Unit Commander in Azare, Sa’adu Funtua, said the accident happened around 8.30pm and involved a commercial bus with number plate KTG 50 YG, and a military armoured vehicle.


He said: “The 18-seater commercial bus coming from Bauchi town was conveying passengers to Azare when one of its tyres burst.

“The driver, who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a military armoured vehicle on the other lane. Seven persons died on the spot, while 17 sustained injuries.”

The unit commander said some minutes after the crash, officials of Federal Road Safety Commission raced to the scene to control the situation.

Sa’adu said the dead had been moved to a morgue at the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, while the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
