5 Killed In Edo Cult Clash

 


               A violent clash between rival cult groups in Benin City, Edo State, has left no fewer than five persons dead.
It was learned that the cult war allegedly between members of Eiye confraternity and Manfight group around Second East Circular area of the state capital, claimed five lives.

Vanguard gathered that trouble started, weekend, for the cult groups, which allegedly, provided security cover to some politicians after a disagreement at a polling centre in Benin City during the March 11, 2015 state House of Assembly election in the state.

A member of Manfight group was said to have been beaten and hacked to death during the incident.

The incident spread to other parts of the city as members of the group (Manfight) vowed to avenge the death of their member.

When contacted, the state police spokesman, Mr Stephen Onwochei, said he was yet to be briefed, promising that he would get in touch with the Divisional Police Officer of the area for details.
