Kannywood actor, Adam Zango, has apologised to actress, Rahma Sadau, who had publicly accused him of sexual harassment via a post on her Instagram page.
Mr. Zango on his own Instagram on Tuesday apologised to Ms. Sadau and her manager, actor, Ali Nuhu.
“I want to use this medium to apologize to Ali Nuhu and his crew for all the things I have said during my quarrel with Rahama Sadau,” he wrote in Hausa. “I also want to apologize as such to the entire Kannywood industry.”
Ms. Sadau in the Instagram post that started the weeks long conflict had accused Mr. Zango of booting her off his yet-to-be-shot movie, Duniya Makaranta, for refusing his sexual advances.
However, in another post the following day, Ms. Sadau apologised for her rant on the social media site, calling it childish.
Meanwhile, a friend of the actress, who pleaded anonymity for fear of victimisation, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Zango had indeed requested a sexual favour from Ms. Sadau in exchange for a role in his movie.
Mr. Zango in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES at the time vehemently denied the accusation, claiming that it was an attack on him instigated by Mr. Nuhu.
“I will not want to believe that Ali Nuhu was not part of this,” he said.
He also said he no longer wished to be associated with Mr. Nuhu and anyone who had dealings with the famed actor, who is one of the biggest stars in Kannywood.
Ms. Sadau was subsequently suspended from Kannywood movies by Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria. She was also publicly criticised by some of her colleagues including director, Falalu Dorayi, who extolled Mr. Zango.
Following his recent retraction, Mr. Zango could not be reached for comment. However, Mr. Dorayi confirmed that the post was actually made by Mr. Zango.
Another source, who pleaded anonymity, told PREMIUM TIMES that Ms. Sadau was once again set to star in Mr. Zango’s movie.
However, the actress still remains on suspension.
