INEC Says Michika, Madagali IDP To Vote In Designated Centres



            Internally Displaced Persons from Michika and Madagali Local Government Areas of Adamawa would cast their votes in designated centres in Yola.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Adamawa, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, announced this at news conference in Yola on Friday.


Yusuf explained that the commission was yet to receive security clearance from the Nigerian Army to conduct elections in the two communities.

He said people of Madagali would cast their votes in designated special polling units situated in Modibbo Adamawa University of Technology, Yola.

Those from Michika would cast their votes at General Murtala College, Aliyu Mustafa College and Government Day Secondary School, Vinikilang in Yola North, Yola South and Girei local government areas respectively.

He said the commission had recruited and trained 13,304 ad hoc staff for the conduct of the elections.

He said the commission distributed 1,388,000 permanent voter cards, representing 88.1 per cent of 1,529, 636 million voters registered in the state.

Yusuf reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting credible and transparent elections.

It will be recalled that Michika and Madagali were recently liberated from Boko Haram insurgents by the Nigerian military. (NAN)
