Abraham Olusanjo Ojekanmi is an author, counsellor and the
founder of the School of Marriage, International. Mr Ojekanmi who has touched
many marriages says not everybody is qualified to marry and empazied he does
not believe in divorce too, because the worst marriage is better than divorce. He
also spoke about the best age to get married while chatting with Rita Okonoboh
of Tribune. His words;
I don’t always come to that point because I believe even the
worst marriage is better than divorce. When a couple divorces, it means they
have failed. If people view it from that point of view, then it will be avoided
at all costs. At the point of divorce, people don’t always know the impact. The
destinies of the children involved are shattered and many other things are
affected. Continue below...
From my various encounters with people, I have come to the
realisation that not everybody is qualified to marry. For example, someone who
doesn’t like sex, which is one of the cardinal pillars of marriage, is not a
candidate for marriage. Unlike a woman who can make do for a long period
without sex, for a man, it is different. Thus, there has to be an understanding.
I don’t believe in divorce.
On recommended age
for marriage;
Rather than recommend age, I would rather test the person’s level of maturity. At 20, one can be mature enough to get married. The earlier one gets married, the better, because medically, especially for ladies, it is advisable to get married early. There is also the case of people who are getting older and have not gained anything from the lessons life has taught them. It shouldn’t be too early however
