The unidentified armed hoodlums scaled through the perimeter
fence of Njoku-Obi’s private residence in Owalla, Uratta, and Owerri North
local Council area of the state.
The abductors struck at about 2am, shot sporadically to
scare people away from the scene, before whisking their hapless victim away to
an unknown destination.
While the ugly incident has become a source of worry to
Owalla people, it was equally gathered that the IMSU community was also rattled
when our correspondent visited the institution.
Some staff of the institution, who spoke on strict grounds
of anonymity, claimed that they had heard the rumour of the PRO’s kidnap,
adding that they could not say with finality if it was true or not.
As at the time of going to press, neither the kidnapped
IMSU-PRO nor the hoodlums had made any contact with the immediate members of
the Njoku-Obi family.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr.
Andrew Enwerem, said he was yet to get the report.
“The report of the incident has not been brought to my
knowledge. Honestly, I am yet to get any such signal but I must tell you that
the State Police Command is ever ready to protect life and property in the
state”, the PPRO said.
