Unknown Gunmen Strike In Rivers, Kill 15 Persons

 
              Unknown gunmen reportedly stormed the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State killing no fewer than 15 persons.
             The gunmen who were about 12 in number, all armed with AK-47 rifles, rode into the area with six motorcycles.


They were said to have operated from 9pm on Wednesday till the wee hours of Thursday, invading seven communities in the local government area and shooting randomly at unsuspecting persons.
A source from Egi clan in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, who spoke to Punch disclosed that, three persons were shot dead in Ede, one person lost his life in Obite, two persons were killed in Egite while two others were injured.
During the raid in Egita community, four persons were shot at close range, one died in Obiosimiri community and another one was killed Akabta community.

"An undisclosed number of people were injured. So far, 15 persons were killed during the night raid by the unknown gunmen.
"As I speak with you, some of our people, who were injured, are in the hospital," the source said.

Efforts to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, proved abortive as his mobile phone was switched off.
