Hollywood is full of devastatingly beautiful women and hunky men. And then there are their spouses.
While most of Hollywood’s elites gravitate toward partners who are equally as stunning, a handful has found their matches with unattractive spouses.
These mismatched pairs seem to have found happiness despite being on opposite ends of the spectrum.
1. Beyonce & Jay-Z One of the most famous couples in the world, this musical pair has been married since 2008. They might be the perfect match on stage, but when it comes to looks, they are on different ends on the spectrum. Though rich and talented, Jay-Z won’t be winning any beauty contest, and he certainly can’t compete with the glamorous Beyonce.
Rumors of romance started bubbling to the surface in 2002 when Jay-Z released the video for “03 Bonnie and Clyde” which featured Beyonce. Soon after, the pair started popping up, and engaging in serious PDA, at all sorts of A-list events.
Though fans hoped for a peek at their lavish ceremony, the couple has never released photos of their New York wedding, which was attended by over 200 guests. They are now the proud parents of 2-year-old Blue Ivy. Just whom does the tot resemble? It’s hard to say since the famously private couple only releases photos of their daughter with her face hidden.
2. Hugh Jackman & Deborra-Lee Furness
He might play Wolverine, but Hugh Jackman is one of Hollywood’s hottest. The couple met in Melboure in 1995 on the set of the TV drama, Correlli.
The show, which featured Furness as the leading lady, was Jackman’s first acting gig and he played her love interest.
However, the Australian actress, director and producer now takes a backseat to her X Men leading man.
The couple was immediately drawn to each other and Jackman popped the question after just four months of dating. The quick romance led to a 1996 wedding, and, with nearly 18 years of marriage under their belts, the mismatched couple seems to be defying the odds.
The couple, who are the parents of two children, say that they are as attracted to each other today as they were all those years ago. Though her career in acting and directing isn’t going anywhere right now, Furness stays busy with philanthropy work.
In her home country, she is a board member for the Worldwide Orphans charity and seeks to bring attention to bring international attention to the issues surrounding children without families
3. Salma Hayek & Francois-Henri Pinault
The French businessman might be a billionaire, but he can’t hold a candle to Salma Hayek’s exotic beauty.
The pair met in Italy in 2006 and quickly conceived their daughter, Valentino. Hayek gave birth in September 2007, the same month that the couple announced their engagement.
Despite a 2008 breakup, they wed in a private City Hall ceremony on Valentine’s Day in 2009 and repeated their vows in front of 150 guests in April of the same year.
The 47-year-old actress, who is famous for wearing skin-tight leather on the red carpet says that she dresses to impress her husband and even engages in sexting with him while she travels in hopes of keeping him interested. But is it working?
Their relationship seemed stable until 2011 when it was revealed that he had fathered a child with Canadian model Linda Evangelista in 2007, at the same time that Salma was pregnant with their daughter. Still, Salma seems to be standing by her man, even if he is keeping secrets.
4. Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard
The blonde beauty started dating the scruffy and awkward Parenthood and Punk’d star in 2007.
After dating for two years the couple became engaged in 2009 but famously decided to postpone their nuptials until same sex marriage became legal in California.
On June 26, 2013, just hours after the Defense of Marriage act as overturned in California, Bell used less than 140 characters to tweet a proposal to Shepard. He posted his response on Twitter and the mismatched pair tied the knot in October 2013 when their daughter, Lincoln, was seven months old.
Not wanting an over-the-top wedding typical of celebrity romances, their ceremony at the County Clerk’s office in Beverly Hills cost just $142.
Recently Bell, who is famous for her work in comedy films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, revived her title role in Veronica Mars with a big screen follow up to the television series. The film was funded on KickStarter and received over $2 million in support in 24 hours.
The vegan couple is also actively involved in the efforts to protect and prevent the children of celebrities from being photographed by the Paparazzi.
5. Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott
The beautiful 90210 actress tied the knot with small-time actor in 2006. They began dating in 2005 on the set of the crime drama Mind Over Murder.
Despite the fact that he was married to Mary Jo Eustace at the time, the pair began an affair the first night they met. Is this a case of “once a cheater, always a cheater?”
McDermott, who hasn’t had any real roles, outside of the couple’s reality shows, in years, headed to rehab last year amid cheating accusations. During his time in rehab he has reportedly admitted to sleeping with five women behind Tori’s back, and not always safely.
Just what do all these women see in this guy?
Though Spelling would like to call it quits, financial woos make divorce impossible since she would need to pay him both alimony and child-support. The once-rich blonde has recently been spotted bargain shopping after settling a $600 million lawsuit, which claimed she stole the idea for her short-lived TV series, sTORIbook Weddings, left her drained. Tori and Dean have four children
