Ebola Outbreak: Community In Abuja, FCT Minister At Loggerheads Over Siting Of Treatment Centre

Residents of Kuje Area Council in the nation’s capital Abuja are at logger heads with the FCT Minister over the siting of Ebola treatment centre within the General Hospital premises.
While speaking on behalf of the residents, Ishaku Shaban Tete, the Chairman of the community expressed dismay at the decision of the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed to site the centre within the council.

“Bringing Ebola centre to such crowded hospital will amount to mass murder because if it catches one person, be rest assured that it will spread rapidly to all the residents,” the chairman said.
The Minister while replying Mr Ishaku said he would hold him responsible if the project fails.
The youths in the community are also angry and are solidly behind their chairman. “We are ready to lay down our lives for the welfare and health of the people of Kuje, instead of allowing such thing happen with our eyes wide opened,” they said.
