2 Vigilantes Die While Trying To Rescue Kidnapped German National In Adamawa

2 members of a local Vigilante group in Adamawa state have been killed by unknown gunmen.
The vigilantes were killed while chasing after the gunmen that abducted a German citizen on Tuesday morning in Gombi area of the state.

A security officer confirmed the development.

“Yes, I can confirm that they killed two vigilantes. What happened was, after they seized the German from his car and forced him on their bike. The people alerted vigilante, and they responded, they engaged them in a gun duel, in the process the kidnappers shot and killed two members of the local vigilante.”

The German national, popularly known as Mr Fisch, is principal of the government owned Technical Skill Acquisition Centre in the town and was abruptly taken as he headed to work at the Anguwan Faransa (French Quarters) area.

A resident who was an eywitness said: “The abductors laid siege on his house, and they came on motorcycles. As soon as the man came out and was about to get into his car, two persons on foot approached him and pointed a gun at him.

“They now called the two sets on motorcycles who approached them and they carried him away on their motorcycle. Almost everybody in this town knows him because he helps us a lot, especially in the area of repairing the town’s water bore holes. Most of the time he uses his own money to buy equipment and repair our boreholes,” the witness added.

The Adamawa State Police Command has said that it is ‘working assiduously’ to track the kidnappers and secure Mr Fisch’s release.
