Inspector General of Police Bans Use Of Commercial Vehicles For Patrol Duties

Solomon-Arase-300x257
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, has directed all police commands and formations in the country to desist from using commercial vehicles for operations and patrol duties.
The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Force’s Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, in Abuja on Thursday.
According to Kolawole, the directive had been circulated to all police formations and commands across the country.

The statement noted that the IGP’s decision was not unconnected with regular complaints by members of the public, adding that there were enormous negative consequences associated with such practices by the police.

The statement said Mr. Arase warned that abuse of the directive by any police unit would attract severe sanctions.
