The Elders Council of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State has flayed the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yusuf, for accepting to contest the election at the House, describing him as a disloyal party member.
The elders in a communique made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Wednesday said the deputy speaker, who is from Osun State is representing Osogbo/Olorunda/Irepodun/Orolu Federal Constituency allowed his personal intrest to move him against the party.
The communique was signed by the Secretary of the APC Elders Council, Mr. Felix Awofisayo and a prominent lawyer, who is a member of the council, Chief Gbadegesin Adedeji.
The party leaders condemned Yusuf’s alleged action which they described as betrayal and added that such action should not be allowed to go unpunished.
The communique read, ” The acceptance of the office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representaives by Hon. Lasun Yusuf is not only a despicable act of betrayal and disloyalty to the party, but also a breach and negation of our party’s directive on the issue.
” Hon. Lasun Yusuf allowed himself to be overwhelmed and driven by admixture of personal intrest and valuing ambition detrimental to the progress and stability of the party that nurtured him and on whose platform he was elected in the first place.
” His action, if allowed to remain, is capable of promoting indiscipline and elevating treachery and rebellion to an art.

The APC leaders also pledged their support and loyalty to Governor Rauf Aregbesola while urging him to continue with his effort to develop the state, saying ” when the going is tough the tough gets going.”
The lawmakers defied the directive of the party and trounced the APC-backed Mohammed Monguno for the position of deputy speaker.
Many members of the APC in Osun State were angered by Yusuf, who they described as a disloyal party member for not supporting the candidate backed by Aregbesola.
