NLC Sends Task Forces To States Over Salary Arrears

The Nigeria Labour Congress has dispatc.hed members of its task forces to states in the six geopolitical zones to ascertain the number of states owing workers salaries a few weeks to the termination of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration
The General Secretary of the NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Esan, told our correspondent on the telephone on Monday that the task forces entrusted with the responsibility of resolving the issue of the outstanding workers salaries sent out various teams to the states on Monday.

Ozo-Esan said the NLC would decide the next line of action after getting reports from the teams in the states.
He said there were six of the task forces set up by the NLC to ensure that the workers’ salaries arrears were paid before the May 29 handover date.
He added that the National Administrative Council set up a task force, entrusted with the responsibility of looking into the state of payment of workers salaries in the states in each of the geopolitical zones.
He stressed that the action of the congress would be determined by the task forces’ observations in the states.
The NLC scribe refused to disclose the number and names of states that were owing months of workers salaries, insisting that it would not be proper to speculate on the issue
