I’m Still In PDP, Orubebe Lament

Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, yesterday, ascribed media reports that he was leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the handiwork of mischief makers.
Orubebe was alleged to have posted on his Tweeter handle @EderGOrubebe, “I have concluded plans to join my folks in the APC to champion and sustain the movement for a better Niger Delta in the new administration.”

Orubebe, in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Ekenwan Akwagbe, in Abuja, described the reports as false and malicious propaganda aimed at tarnishing his image.

He said: “News making the rounds and going virile in the internet and published in the media that Elder Orubebe, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, has defected to the APC is not only mischievous but malicious and intended to tarnish the good image of Orubebe.

“Elder Orubebe remains a staunch believer in the cause of the PDP, and in the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“It is the desire of Elder Orubebe to steadfastly remain in the party that gave him the opportunity to serve at the highest level of governance in Nigeria in order to join hands with President Jonathan and all well meaning PDP leaders to rebuild and reposition the party to retake power in 2015.

“He remains faithful to the PDP and will continue to remain there to form a strong opposition party to check every step taken by the incoming APC administration.”
