Gunmen suspected to be menebers of Boko Haram sect on Thursday, August 28, reportedly stormed Jibwhiwhui village, Hawul local government area of Borno State and killed no fewer than 14 people in the attack.on Thursday night, killing seven people before moving to the environs slaughtering seven people in an operation which lasted till 5:00am, on Friday.
He said the gunmen arrived Jibwhiwhui at about 10:00 pm entering houses and picking residents and shooting them dead.
An indigene of the area resident in Maiduguri said he was told that the gunmen who came on motorcycles killed seven in Jibwhiwhui before moving to the nearby villages and killed another seven persons.
Hawul is about 220 kilometres south of Maiduguri, the state capital.
It was reported on Thursday, August 28, that there was panic in Dikwa, headquarters of Dikwa Local Government Area in Borno as suspected Boko Haram members heavily armed came in a convoy of Sport Utility Vehicles, SUV and motorcycles.
Many residents of Dikwa were reportedly forced to flee into the bush on sighting the gang of stern-looking men in some vehicles painted in military colour and motorcycles chanting Allah Akbar ! (Allah is great).
Boko Haram, an Islamist group, has caused havoc in Nigeria, especially in the Northern states, through a wave of bombings, assassinations and now abductions.
Borno state has been under several attacks by the dreaded Boko Haram sect, as they have killed hundreds of people, burnt countless houses and displaced many from their homes.
It would be recalled that gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram members, around 5am on Friday morning, July 18, attacked Damboa in Borno State, killing several people in the attack.
On July 24, 2014, suspected Boko Haram members invaded Garubula village of Biu local Government area of Borno state, killing scores of people.
