NAN reports that the Chief Magistrate, Mr Anthony Araba, who refused to take the plea of the accused order that he, should be remanded in Ibara Prisons pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The accused, who is standing trial for a four-count charge of conspiracy, assault, stealing and rape has no permanent residential address or occupation.
ASP Banji Sangotokun, the police prosecutor told the court that the accused committed the offences on August 24, 2014, at about 10.00p.m. in Alagbagbo Village, Odeda near Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
According to him, the defendant and three others now at large accosted the two teenagers, aged 19, when they were returning back from church, assaulted and raped them.
The prosecutor also told the court that accused stole the sum of N6, 000 from the victims. He informed the court that the offences were contrary to Sections 357, 358, 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
The magistrate adjourned mentioning to October 6, 2014.
It would be recalled that on September 11, 2014, one Abbas Sanusi, was also remanded in prison custody by a Kano Magistrates’ Court sitting at Nomans land for allegedly raping a minor.
