Adeleye said the accused committed the offence at MicCom Bus Stop, Egbeda, a Lagos suburb, on August 23, at about 8.30 p.m.
He said: “The passenger boarded a bus from Oshodi to Egbeda and informed the conductor about the little money he had on him as fare.Adeleye said the offence contravened Section 244 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused may be sentenced to three years imprisonment on conviction. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence. The Magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. The case has been adjourned till October 6, for trial.
“The accused demanded for the balance of the fare when he got to the bus stop and thereafter a fight ensued. “In the process, the accused bit off Kabiru’s ear.”
