This claim was made by Chief Yomi Ogunnusi, representing Ifako-Ijiaye
constituency in Lagos. The lawmaker said the erratic power supply was a big hindrance
to learning; something he said would not encourage students to study hard.
The 2014 results released by the West African Examination Council showed
that only 31.28% of candidates who sat for the West African Secondary
School Certificate examination passed with five credits in five subjects
including Mathematics and English Language.
