Suspected Fulani herdsmen raid Falae’s farm again

Barely two weeks after former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, was released by alleged Fulani herdsmen who kidnapped him from his farm, cattle believed to belong to Fulani herdsmen have again overrun his farm in Ilado village, Akure, Ondo State.
Falae spent four days in captivity before he was released after an unspecified ransom was paid. His abductors originally asked for N100 million ransom but later reduced it to N90 million. The manager of Falae’s farm, Mr Bruno ‎Akhigbodemen, alleged that the cattle destroyed a plantation of maize of over one kilometre on Monday morning.

Akhigbodomen, who took journalists on a tour to see the damaged farmland said, the herdsmen invaded the farm at about 2am on Monday, leading to the destruction of the plantation.

He explained  that ‎one of the  workers, who saw them raised the alarm, but before other workers could come around, the invaders had left with their herds.

He said the matter has been reported to the state Police Command after which some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad were deployed in the farm.

A police source said the detectives combed the neighbouring villages for the suspects but they were unable to make any arrest as the herdsmen were said to have left the area.
