Popularly known and 'Mr. Wrapper Marathon' Mr David Adjarho, a
46-year-old man on Wednesday completed a 787-kilometer walk from Lagos
to Abuja to promote “wrapper marathon’’ in Nigeria.
In an interview with some newsmen upon his arrival to Abuja, Adjarho,
said the exercise was to promote tourism and attract investment into
such a marathon.
He said wrapper marathon was aimed at promoting the use of wrapper in marathons instead of wearing the conventional Jaycees.
Adjarho, who wrapped himself in a 15-yard Ankara
material, said the walk he underwent was to promote a N500-million fund
raiser for five Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) committed to
humanitarian services in the country.
He identified the NGOs as Beach Samaritan; Active 8; Government College, Ughelli old Boys Association; 3-1 equal 2 and the Biggest Food Library in Nigeria.
He said that his walk from Lagos to Abuja was to witness the inauguration of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.
He also added that he has been the only man involved in wrapper marathon in the world and if embraced in Nigeria, the competition will attract revenue and investment into the tourism sector.
“I started this walk on May 6 from the National Stadium, Lagos and here I am now in Abuja on May 27.’’Hope it works out for him though...
