Former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida yesterday,
expressed concern over the present situation in the country, adding that
it needed the intervention of all Nigerians to join hands with the
incoming administration to get the people out of the current problems.
Apparently referring to the acute scarcity of petrol and blackout being
experienced across the country, Babangida, however, said that the
outgoing administration should not be seen as deliberately punishing the
people but rather a trying period for any administration which would
come and go.
Farewell visit Babangida in company of former Head of State, Gen.
Abdulsalami Abubakar who spoke during a farewell visit to the Niger
State governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu in his house told journalists that
he was worried and concerned just like any other Nigeria about the
numerous problems confronting the country but added that there was
always a solution to any problem.
“I am as concerned about these problems as everyone is. I want Nigerians to support the incoming government in whatever measures it takes to provide solution to the problems on ground.“Government is doing all it can to make sure these problems, come to an end. We should endeavour to support them during this period,” he said.
The former president noted that every country, developed and
under-developed have their peculiar problems which confront them, adding
that Nigeria cannot also run away from its own problems which would
certainly come and go.
According to him,”every developing country
has one problem or the other and there has to be a government to solve
such problem because there must always be a government on ground to
solve any problem and so, the incoming government will be prepared to
face some challenges and also be prepared to solve them.
