Upticomm Marketing Company, a fast growing full-service public relations and integrated marketing communications consulting firm, has introduced TheRoleModelSeries Conference; an interactive and educative mentor-protégé programme for public secondary schools designed to commemorate Children’s Day on May 27.
It is designed to provide education, mentoring and inspiration using distinguished and reputable personalities in private, business and public life, and will hold at the Main Auditorium, University of Lagos.
The theme: “The Inspired Teenager: Life Changing Lessons from Mentors” will feature over 300 teenagers in public secondary schools in Lagos between 12 – 16 years. Speaking during a media interactive forum held at the company’s office in Lagos, Chief Reputation Strategist of the firm, Olusegun McMedal, said, “the idea behind TheRoleModelSeries Conference is driven by the need to create access for teenagers to learn directly from role models in the society.
“Research has shown that the increasing vices can be traced to people who finished from public schools largely due to lack of support and guidance from authority figures who could guide and inspire them to make the right choice in their formative years. This is a cause that Upticomm wants to champion and we encourage other well-meaning individuals and organisations to support the scheme,” he said.
McMedal however stated the road to successful career require more than the basic education as research has shown that almost all the successful people have mentors who could be parents, teachers, coaches or other authority figures who encourage and guide them to make informed decisions in life.
