Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, operating in Ondo State have arrested two friends for stealing a goat.
Vanguard reports that the suspects whose names were given as Seun Agagu and Gbenga Adedipe were said to have confessed to committing the crime
The suspects who reside at 49, Ijoka Road Dafog, Akure and 12 Arakale Street Akure, respectively, were apprehended around 3.am at 2, Ijigba Street, Oda Road, Akure, by the NSCDC officials.
It was gathered that one of the suspected goat thieves confessed that they wanted to mark the birthday of his friend with the goat. He disclosed that they (suspects) laid an ambush for the goat in the night.
However, luck ran out on them following the alarm raised by the owner of the goat after she observed that the goat had gone missing that night.
It was learnt that a search party was quickly conducted, and the missing goat was found at the place the suspects had kept it with the intention of killing it the next day for the birthday celebration.
Confirming the arrest, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, Andrew Igwe Ugwumba, disclosed that the suspects would be charged to court after concluding investigation.
Meanwhile, in August, a 20-year-old man was sentenced by the Upper Area Court in Kuje area council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to 12 months imprisonment for having sex with goat in the bathroom.
