Two men have been dragged to court after they pushed one Ikechukwu Amanabu, 28 into a well at a popular hotel at Owode, Ajegunle, Lagos, over a woman.
The two suspects, Segun Abbey, 20, and Obinna Ezeanuna, 20 were said to have engaged the deceased in a fight over a woman and as the fight raged on, they pushed him into the well but before help could come to him, he drowned and died.
The suspects had attempted fleeing the scene but they were caught by the hotel’s management and handed over to the police, who arrested them, PM News reports.
After preliminary investigation, the matter was transferred to the Homicide Department at SCID.
They were arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrate’s court by the police at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba.
The police alleged that the suspects willfully murdered Amanabu by pushing him into the well.
They were charged with conspiracy and murder.
Presiding over the matter, the Magistrate, Mr E.O. Ogunkanmi, ordered them to be remanded in prison custody at Ikoyi, Lagos, after their plea was not taken, while also ordering the prosecutor to send their file to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 9 July, 2014
