News surfaced on Monday (Sept. 21) that Rick Ross had been named in a
lawsuit for the r@pe of an unnamed woman during Grammys weekend back in
February.
Though the MMG boss was not identified
as the assailant, the victim is reportedly looking to hold him
accountable. Upon the circulation of the story, Ross released a
statement to TMZ regarding the incident, noting that takes the matter
seriously “as a man and a father:”“It has been brought to my attention that serious allegations have been made against an independent contractor, who’s services I use often. And while I am not directly involved or implicated, as a man and a father, I take this very seriously. I don’t believe any woman’s safety should be compromised and she should never be forced to do anything outside of her will, regardless of the circumstances. While I personally have no knowledge of the specifics surrounding these allegations, it is my hope that this is rectified quickly and with sensitivity.”
According to the woman’s account, an associate of Ross’ named Thaddeus “Black” James committed $£xual assault against her after meeting them at the W Hotel in Los Angeles to attend an event. She claims she was offered a drink, and that she felt dizzy and passed out thereafter. Returning to James’ hotel room after she awoke, the woman then claims she passed out again, and found that her clothes had been removed and that she’s been raped, the morning after.
The woman has named Ross in her suit because she believes James should have been “supervised.” No further details in the legal proceedings have been released.
