President-elect , General Muhammadu Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday met behind closed-doors to confer on the transition programme and inauguration.
Buhari was accompanied by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau (rtd) and other personal aides, who arrived the new banquet hall at the presidential villa at exactly 3 p.m. in a convoy of five land cruiser jeeps
Jonathan said the meeting which lasted about 30 minutes was fruitful and was for them to continue their conversation. He said at a yet to be determined date he’ll give Buhari a guided tour of the Villa.
Jonathan told State House correspondents who wanted to know what the meeting was about that they will talk at a later date.
He said, “We will take a date when the President (Buhari) will come and I will show him round the State House but today is not for that. Today is to continue with our conversation. So we don’t need to worry the President, we don’t need to worry the President”
Asked how fruitful the conversation was, he said, “You can see that we are smiling, it was a fruitful one”
On what the discussion was about, President Jonathan said, “ We are discussing the interest of the country”. When newsmen asked Buhari if he had anything to add, he replied, “The President said it all”.
