On Thursday evening, a vehicle crashed into the convoy of Gombe state
Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, leaving 14 people dead. The governor and
his men were returning from the presidential rally of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), in nearby Bauchi State when the tragedy
occurred.
According to TheCable, the vehicle, which was heading to Abuja fora programme organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, rammed into the convoy around the Alkaleri end of the Bauchi/Gombe federal highway.
“The vehicle of the governor had already passed and
it was that of the press that was affected. A bus conveying people to
Abuja forthe AGRIFEST programme rammed into the convoy. The vehicle was
trying to avoid a motorcycle, which was on a high speed when it
happened,” said an officialof the Department of State Service who asked

Gombe State Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, while confirming the tragedy, stated that victims had been moved to the Federal Medical Centre, in the capital Gombe.
