A member of the party’s Board of Trustees, Amb. Chief Sam Nkeire, who led a delegation of the state party officials to meet with the APC national leadership, said this in Abuja, on Thursday.
He explained that the party’s stakeholders in Abia State are of the view that the state INEC as presently constituted did not have the best interest of the people at heart.
He said, “So far from experience, we have no confidence in the INEC in Abia State. If INEC in Abia State changes its ways, we shall come here and announce to you that there is a change. We are calling for the removal of the present officials of INEC in Abia State.Nkeire explained that if the conduct of the electoral body during the governorship election was anything to go by, the state chapter of the party is of the view that the desire of the people to have a free and fair election will not see the light of day.
“We want an election whose results will be a true reflection of what transpired in the field.
“We are here visiting the National Leadership of our party, we have two elections coming up on the 5th of March, we are here to strategise and seek advise on what to do.
“We will not be intimidated, we are not going to tolerate rigging or any form of brigandage nobody has the monopoly of violence.”
The party officials urged government at all levels in the state to ensure the security of lives and property of the people of the state. They said the recent up surge of kidnapping and violent crimes makes this call imperative
