The Leader of the Gang currently in police custody, has been identified
as Somoye who led the robbery of the church with his gang during their
anniversary service .
The church which is located on Ibaar GRA area of Abeokuta in Ogun state
was ripped off of N6million cash and other valuables duri
But following a distress call, the police stormed the church while the robbers were still carrying out theiroperations and engaged the gang members in an exchange of fire.
During the gun battle, police bullets hit Somoye in the leg,while a police Bareta pistol was recovered from him.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the force had commenced investigations with a view to ascertain the source of the pistol recovered from the suspected robber. Adejobi, a deputy superintendent of police, said:
